About Watanabe Ritaro Shoten

Regional Revitalization as Our Mission

Watanabe Ritaro Shoten is transforming into a “local trading company with a global vision,” based on three core principles:

1. Responding to Opportunities and Change

2. Love for the Hometown

3. Authenticity

By leveraging our experience in sake retail and wholesale, we aim to promote our beloved hometown on the world stage, and become a leader in regional revitalization.

1. Responding to Opportunities and Change

Since the Meiji era, we have been selling sake in Mutsu City.

In the past, when sake was not available in convenience stores or supermarkets, it was normal to buy it from a sake shop.

However, after the deregulation of liquor sales in 2003, large corporations began selling sake at extremely low prices through mass procurement.

In response, our current president, Shuji Watanabe, who took office in 2002, shifted focus to wholesale supply for the Self-Defense Forces and hotels.

This strategic flexibility is the reason we are still here today.

In this fast-changing era, we never stay in one place—we adapt, evolve, and move forward.

2. Love for the Hometown

Everything we do is rooted in our deep affection for our hometown.

We prioritize collaboration with local businesses and acting in the best interest of local residents.

This love is the foundation for sharing the value of Mutsu City with Japan and the world.

We are committed to revitalizing and promoting Mutsu City with sincerity and pride.

3. Authenticity

Authenticity means being real and true to oneself.

In marketing, it often refers to “telling it like it is.”

We strive to express and create the unique authenticity of Mutsu through our work.

Being in a rural area does not mean we are behind the times or lacking in quality of life.

In today’s world, where knowledge and opportunities are accessible from anywhere, location no longer limits potential.

Surrounded by Mt. Kamafuse and the deep blue of Mutsu Bay, we believe this region offers a truly rich way of life.

We aim to deliver genuine value to people who seek the real thing—and pursue excellence both in Japan and around the world.
